As usual your artwork is in a league of it's own, these animated images are an absolute joy to sit and take in. This one isn't, I think, your best work to date but it's a different direction to your previous Asian inspired pieces and a worthy experiment.
First of all the figure. It very much depends on what you were attempting to create because the character (for me) is just a little bit too muscular to be sexy. The costume design is good, but perhaps a little less original than some of your previous works - though it does create a very comic book style to it. The face feels like it's a little oddly proportioned, but that isn't likely to be a mistake - but rather a combination of the angle the viewer takes against the lighting and hair across her face. Going to black so quickly from left to right certainly creates a dramatic look to the piece, but a small amount of bounced or secondary light on the right side of her face may help to fill in the missing eye and balance the face up. (please don't take as me suggesting you can't paint faces, in all your previous works the faces are both exotic and have hidden beauty).
As for the background and other elements, the flares on the dagger are particularly stunning, the dagger itself is unique and provides an excellect focus for the piece. It took me a long time of looking to notice the glint in her eye between blinks and the gentle breathing motion of her chest. This combined with the gentle green background lighting effect and the flame really impresses me with the subtle nature of what could easily have been overly animated and distracting. The only effect that could perhaps have done with further work is the small globes of white light that spark from the dagger's tip, they are just a little too simple and obvious.
I greatly look forwards to your next piece, these animated images are so inspiring and fantastic that at some point I hope to produce a sci-fi inspired piece of my own - which I intend to credit you for the inspiration.
what astonished me most was not her smile, her icy blade, the mist off the blade, or even her winking. it was the friggin smoke coming out of the pot in the corner xD icant believe you would add such small detail, it definetly completes the image ^^
I fail. I JUST realized she was in some sort of temple or something. I thought she was in an alleyway, but then again, I was focused on her and mainly on that blade, so I didn't really pay attention to the background. Personally, I think this would look better if she was in an alleyway in a city, since it would make the knife look less like a treasure or something and more like some sort of trademark weapon or at least something with less of an ancient feel. XD
